U2 - Mysterious Ways |

Registration for Winter 2009 is done! Woot! Looking at my classes, I should just see if they'll let me declare my major as "Nerd". >.>
|MWF ----- 12:45 to 1:45 - Latin I (LATIN 101) 2:00 to 3:00 - Data Structures (CS 235) 3:15 to 4:15 - Math Real World (FDMAT 108)
|Tu-Th ------- 11:30 to 12:30 - World Foundations (FDWLD 101) 12:45 - 1:45 - Science Foundations (FDSCI 101) 3:15 - 4:45 - Micro Applications (CIT 140)
Note: "Foundations" is BYU-I code for general education classes.
So yes. I was totally going to take PYSCH 101 but the only time it was available it was taught by a teacher _theo_ took it from and hated for very valid sounding reasons. So, no. CIT 140 is something I added at the end because _theo_ is taking it, says the teacher is awesome and the class is easy (he took an almost identical class but has to take this one too), and can give me rides home that day. Plus, as its all Excel and Database stuff, I am pretty familiar with the subject matter already thanks to messing around with my World of Warcraft Emulator "Popular Online Game Based Entirely Legitimate Program" (TM).
(Legal Note: The server was never online, and I always had a valid subscription. Also, I have holy water. You keep those lawyers away from me.)
So yeah. 16 credits, but 3 of them are SUPPOSED to be easy... So we'll see. And now it is time and past for sleeping. Looking forward to no classes before 11:30 next term. XD
EDIT: Right, forgot why I was originally posting. Check out the way my schedule forms an almost perfect skull. Yeah. That's not an omen at ALL.

We bought a car last week. It is a 2003 Toyota Echo. I have already not spent fifteen hours on the bus since we got the car. I love it. Also: music sounds better when you're going somewhere.

Um. What is with all the bad attempts English accents? And Rand suddenly talking in small caps all the time? It's hilarious.
Enjoying it so far though. The style is a bit different and there are definatly more cheesey action film lines but overall Mr Sanderson has done an excellent job. What do you think?

Seven Semi-Simple Steps to Recovery
Step 1: Download Knoppix (a Linux LiveCD; bootable OS contained on CD). Step 2: Download Obtain Through Legitimate Means Some Fancy CD-Burning Software Step 3: Burn Knoppix as an Image Step 4: Boot from Knoppix Step 5: Hook up USB Drive. Hey, there's my files! Step 6: Get Files Step 7: Rejoice
Well, technically right now I am still on step 6. But yes. They are all there. Once I have the essentials backed up onto my main drive, I will attempt to see if I can't make my USB drive readable again. Otherwise I am not sure what to do... if I can't get the drive to be communicatable-with in Windows I am not sure how to reformat it so Windows can read it. Hmm. Oh well, Files are Priority One!
(PS: "IceWeasel" (compare: FireFox) is the name of the browser this version of Knoppix came with.) (PPS: I really should be in bed.)
Update (2:14am): All crucial data is accounted for and recovered. I didn't bother with all my old game ISOs and such, I can get those again as needed. So basically I am back on track, except that I still have no idea how to get my drive readable by Windows again. Ah well, that is a struggle for some other time. Now is the time of the bed!
Update II (2:29am): I am SO glad to have my music back, omg. I am also amused that on my newly loaded and randomized playlist, the first song is Weird Al - Dare to be Stupid. XD

So, on Saturday I did indeed take the HD to a computer place, courtesy of Theo. They examined and said that the drive was perfectly readable under Linux, so if I wanted they could pull files off for me, or I could do it myself if I had a machine running Linux. Well, I technically don't, but I have a computer and I know how to *install* Linux, so, that's basically the same thing.
We're going to put it on Theo's machine, since he was getting ready to wipe it and put Windows 7 on it anyways. Hopefully he'll have time for us to do that today, and then maybe we can see about recovering the files. After that I can just reformat the drive and put everything back on, so that Windows can read it again.
It is very nice to know that stuff is not gone forever, and I do believe I have learned my lesson about not backing things up. I am gonna take advantage of that spindle of blank DVDs Theo bought and burn all the VITAL stuff like my word files.
Halloween was kind of sad. I ended up not doing anything, aside from playing D&D with the group. Theo invited me to come dress up and reverse trick-or-treat with them and I seriously wanted to go, but by that point in the evening I felt like total crap and just needed to sleep. Wish I had gone, though... I slept for 3 hours, woke up, could NOT go back to sleep, ended up awake all night, missed Church, and generally just feel pretty blah.
Aside from a fairly crappy weekend (outside of D&D and hanging out with Theo) things are going really well, so I won't complain too much, heh. Just take a deep breath and try to get some work done today. Man, I miss my music collection.
